From 8 to 16 October 2026, the international shooting elite will gather in Cairo for the ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol. For the athletes, the World Cup is a crucial stop on the road to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games – and, at the same time, the final major international test before the World Championships in Doha.
Cairo therefore comes at a crucial point in the season: here, the athletes can assess their form under the pressure of international competition, make final adjustments to their technique and equipment, and gain valuable competitive experience. Immediately afterwards, all eyes will turn to Doha, where the ISSF Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun World Championships will take place from 1 to 14 November. This is where qualification for LA28 officially begins; a total of 36 Olympic quota places will be allocated in Doha.
RWS and ISSF: Together on the road to Los Angeles
RWS and the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) share a close partnership. Since 2025, RWS has been an ISSF Platinum Sponsor and Official Partner, as well as the exclusive ammunition provider in specific ISSF contexts. The partnership was extended at the end of 2025 – a clear sign of RWS’s long-term commitment to international shooting sport and the road to the LA28 Olympic Games.
The collaboration focuses on supporting elite sport, international competitions and the athletes themselves. It is precisely this connection that is also evident in Cairo: numerous RWS athletes are competing in the World Cup, relying on the precision and reliability of RWS ammunition.

Cairo as a tough test ahead of the start of Olympic qualification
The significance of the World Cup lies above all in its timing: Cairo is the last major international competition for many rifle and pistol shooters before Doha. The ISSF itself describes the World Cup as the decisive final test before the World Championships.
The race for the first Olympic quota places for Los Angeles will then begin in Doha. The qualification process for LA28 spans several competitions and comprises a total of 340 athlete places for the shooting events.
For the RWS athletes, the motto in Cairo is therefore: Focus, precision and maximum performance – as a crucial step on the long road to Los Angeles.
RWS wishes all athletes every success and good luck in Cairo!
