Medal rush with RWS for the French team at the Biathlon World Championships in Lenzerheide
The Biathlon World Championships in Lenzerheide 2025 have been a great success for the French team so far. With a total of ten medals, France is dominating the medal table and once again demonstrating its strength on the track and at the shooting range. A decisive factor for this impressive performance is not only the outstanding form of the athletes, but also the precision they can rely on when shooting – thanks to RWS Biathlon Competition and RWS Biathlon Special Match ammunition.
At the opening event on 12 February, the French quartet of Julia Simon, Lou Jeanmonnot, Eric Perrot and Emilien Jacquelin proved their class in the mixed relay, taking the gold medal with ease ahead of the Czech Republic and Germany. The athletes' accuracy was a decisive factor in their success here.
In particular, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet was able to combine her shooting skills with her speed in the 7.5 km sprint on 14 February to secure the world title. She also showed her class in the 10 km pursuit, finishing third, followed by Lou Jeanmonnot in fourth place. Julia Simon was also in top form and took the world championship title in the women's 15 km individual race on 18 February.
In the men's race, Quentin Fillon Maillet secured a medal with a third-place finish in the sprint on 15 February. Eric Perrot followed with an impressive third place in the 12.5 km pursuit on 16 February, before clinching his first world championship title with a victory in the 20 km individual on 19 February. Fillon Maillet completed the strong performance with bronze in this competition.
On 20 February, the duo of Julia Simon and Quentin Fillon Maillet also delivered a masterful performance in the single mixed relay, which was rewarded with gold.
Precision as a guarantee for success
The results of the French athletes underscore the importance of shooting performance in biathlon. The combination of a stable hit rate and efficient shooting behaviour often makes the difference between winning and losing. The athletes were able to rely on the RWS Biathlon Competition and RWS Biathlon Special Match ammunition, which impresses with the highest precision and consistent performance. The low dispersion and optimal trajectory of these cartridges contributed significantly to the fact that the French biathletes were consistently among the top performers.
Interim results of the 2024/25 season
After 14 of 21 races in the current World Cup season, three French women are in the top 5 overall: Lou Jeanmonnot (#2), Julia Simon (#4) and Jeanne Richard (#5). In the men's race, Eric Perrot (#3) and Emilien Jacquelin (#4) are also among the top five athletes of the season. These strong results underline the continuity and high level of performance of the French team.
Exciting outlook for the upcoming competitions
With the last competitions at the weekend, further medal decisions are still to be made. On 22 February, the women's 4x6 km and the men's 4x7.5 km relays will take place. The men's relay with Perrot, Jacquelin and Fillon Maillet in particular has a good chance of another top result.
The mass starts on 23 February will conclude the Games. Justine Braisaz-Bouchet and Julia Simon are the top favourites in the women's event, while Eric Perrot and Quentin Fillon Maillet will be fighting for more medals in the men's event.
With an already impressive haul of medals, one thing is clear: the French team remains one of the dominant nations in biathlon, and with the precision of RWS behind them, the chances of further success are looking good.
