From Heinrich Jansohn to Florian Schmidt: four decades of passion
The history of the RWS Test Range is inextricably linked to the people who have shaped it.
Heinrich Jansohn, who opened the shooting range in 1985, laid the foundation for its success with his commitment and technical expertise.
He was succeeded by Christian Thomas in 2005, who further developed the site and expanded close cooperation with athletes, clubs and associations.
Florian Schmidt has been managing the RWS test shooting range since 2022. He and his team also travel to many sporting competitions with a mobile version of the range to advise athletes and enable ammunition testing on site.

The RWS test range is all about millimetre-precise analysis. Different batches of ammunition are fired, measured and evaluated under identical conditions on high-precision test ranges.
